Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. In Their Words is a tool for adults creating keepsakes about their own families. Children may appear in the interviews an adult runs, but children may not create accounts or use the app on their own.

You keep ownership of everything you create — the answers, names, and any videos or recordings. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process, and display your content back to you and to anyone you deliberately share it with.

You are responsible for the interviews you record. By using In Their Words you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child who appears, or that you have that person's (or their guardian's) permission, and that you consent to recording and — if you choose — sharing that content. Don't record anyone without the right to do so.

Use In Their Words only for lawful, personal, family purposes. Don't use it to harass, exploit, or endanger anyone (especially a child), to upload content you don't have the rights to, or to break the law. We may suspend or remove content or accounts that violate these terms.

Share links are optional and created by you. When you create one, anyone with the link can view that keepsake, including a child's first name and age. You decide who receives it. Deleting the keepsake removes the link.

Core features are free. If we offer paid features, the price and terms will be shown before you buy, and any payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). Paid unlocks apply to your account or the specific keepsake described at checkout.

We work hard to make In Their Words reliable, but it's provided without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. To the fullest extent allowed by law, In Their Words isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.

You can stop anytime and delete your keepsakes or your whole account from Account settings. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. If your account ends, we delete your content as described in the Privacy note.

We may update these terms as the product grows. If we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use the app means you accept the current terms.
